Being a guest at an Indian wedding is always a blast! This is a wonderful opportunity to dress up in traditional Indian clothes, meet many family and old friends, and eat a lot of delicious food. But how should one choose what to wear?

There are several things that you need to consider when shopping for your outfit: the fabric, colour, silhouette, prints and accessory. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

  • Fabric

In hot weather, you should stick to breathable fabric like cotton or linen. These fabrics are lighter and easier to carry in the heat. If you want something more luxurious, look for silks that are lightweight and flowy.

  • Colour

Wearing soothing, pastel colors or bright, but cool-toned shades will make you feel fresh in the heat. Avoid wearing dark colors like black or navy in summer as they absorb heat and will make you feel even hotter!

  • Silhouette

When it comes to silhouettes, choose ones that flow and not bunch up making you sweat. A-line will give you enough ease without being too baggy for the heat. You can even go for voluminous dresses with puffy sleeves or palazzos with fitted blouses for a more comfortable look!

  • Prints

Indian prints come in all shapes and sizes, and they can be striking, elegant or busy. If you’re going to wear prints, especially if they’re already bold or vibrant colors, we recommend going with smaller prints. Things like flowers, small geometric patterns or paisleys tend to be flattering on most body types and look very chic.

  • Accessory and makeup

You’ll want your accessory and makeup choices to complement your outfit and not overshadow it. Statement jewelry works well with simpler designs that don’t have much detailing. For makeup, choose something minimal that will last through the festivities without smudging or melting off under the hot sun!

Before you step out of your home to attend your next Indian wedding, choose what you are going to wear with the above tips in mind. By doing this, you will have an easier time finding the perfect outfit!
